Galway Racecourse

The Galway racecourse is 136 miles from Dublin. The racecourse is situated four miles outside the city centre off the Galway-Tuam road. The Galway track is most well known for the Galway festival which goes from strength to strength and takes place each year around the months of July and August and goes on for a full week. The week attracts over a quarter of a million visitors to the track and each year new records are broken in betting turnover.

It is thought that records of an organised race meeting in County Galway go back to the mid thirteenth century, when what were known as horse matches were run under King's Plate Articles. Today racing is of the highest quality and many a Cheltenham Festival fancy can emerge at this festival.
