Kilbeggan RacecourseThe Kilbeggan racecourse is approximately one mile from the town centre, on the north side and is considered by many to be at the centre of Ireland as it can be reached easily from all directions. Kibeggan quite unusually is the only racecourse in Ireland where races are over jumps under national hunt rules. Kilbeggan is a round right handed racetrack of 9 furlongs with a short uphill run in of 300 yards.One of the biggest races on the Kilbeggan track is the Midlands National, this race has quickly established itself as one of the most exciting chases of the summer racing calendar.
